Peak District photos. Hope valley. Hathersage.

Last summer I spent a few days doing some volunteer work in Lane End Farm in the Peak District. The farm is located in Hope Valley not far away from a village called Hathersage in Derbyshire, which is only 10 miles SE from Sheffield. Its a beautiful natural area called Abney, very hilly and with very nice  picturesque old style houses. Lane End farm is a charity that provides daytime outdoor activities like horse riding, cooking, animal care, horticulture, etc.. to disable and disadvantaged young people. These activities have proved to be also very successful for young people with Autistic Disorder because in Lane End Farm they can connect with a beautiful nature and farm animals.

So during my breaks working there I had a walk around to explore the area. It was one of those blue skies summer days. I was very lucky! Its so great we have the Peak District so close to Sheffield.

I took a few photos which I put on a video. I also played some of the music for the background. You can see it below.

Hope you enjoy it.

David Jones is an artist based in the city of Sheffield. His main work is mainly focused on Paintings, Sculptures and Drawings. David has done exhibitions in art galleries in London, Manchester, Sheffield and the Czech Republic.

On his own words:

“With my current paintings I am very much revisiting the feelings and impressions of living in Arabia during the mid 70’s when I was a child. The strangeness of arriving in a place that was still being built, the surreal expanses of concrete foundations for houses, shops, hospitals etc. that would one day form a town, empty of site workers on days off. The call to prayer and the Arabic writing especially struck me; huge billboards on roads next to empty wasteland advertising airline companies with images of avian aggression incorporated into the logo, and trippy, neon flashing adverts for soft drinks on the TV with their analog synth jingles that crudely anticipated the electronic dance music that would come years later.

My work draws as much from historical imagery as it does from the visual devices of current media such as advertising, computer games and logo design. Oriental decoration, Baroque tromp l’oeil, Medieval heraldry and Eastern calligraphy influence a preoccupation with Geometric Abstraction.
I am interested in how as a culture we categorize phenomena and by what criteria we evaluate and label hierarchies of objects and experiences and to what extent our experience of living is covertly prescribed by the incessant “noise” of modern living.”

We just finished a new mobile friendly website where he is showing his most recent work. Click on the link below if you want to visit David’s website:

Mobilegeddon is here

Mobilegeddon is here, in other words, Google will rank higher your website if it is mobile friendly.

The web is going mobile. And thats a fact. In 2015 there are already more mobile phones than PCs. Everyday more and more people use the phone to browse the internet, purchase products and download apps. And we take this very seriously in PVV Web Design.

Starting on April 21, Google will be expanding the use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. Which in other words means that your website will have more chances to appear on the first pages of Google if it is mobile responsive and non-mobile optimised sites are likely to experience an important drop.

But what is a mobile friendly website? Basically when you look to a web with only the desktop version (or non mobile friendly) you have to pinch and zoom in order to be able to read the text or see the photos. Its a pretty annoying task to be honest and most of the times the users are more likely to abandon  your site and look somewhere else. You can read more about it in Google Webmaster Central Blog

According to Deloitte 35 million people have a smartphone in the UK, which means over half the population. Figures that, without a doubt, will change dramatically on the upcoming months.

And here is where making the move to mobile becomes essential. Text and photos big enough to read, space in between links, one scroll down pages. In other words a clear visible and easy to navigate content.Because at the end of the day its all about a pleasant user experience.

Mobile-Friendly-141

So from April 21st 2015, and thanks to Google, its a new era for Mobile responsiveness.

Go mobile!

You can test your website clicking in Google Mobile-Friendly test. And you can read more about it in Google Why make a website mobile-friendly?

Contact us if you want a free estimate for an affordable mobile responsive website. We are very determined to help small businesses and self employed people in Sheffield and Yorkshire area so we are really hoping to hear from you!

Two Skies live Video by PVV Web Design

Two Skies live Video by PVV Web Design

Last December 2014 I attended to the ‘Psychotic Reaction’ Festival in a venue called Gullivers in Manchester city center. Like the name well says there were Psychedelic bands lined up all day. Due that psychedelia is my current fav genre and also TWO SKIES  my current favourite band, I decided to bring my camera and recorded some live video.

As I pointed out before I don’t own a professional equipment, just a point and shoot photo camera that allows me to record in 720hp (which is enough for me at the moment). A few days later I showed some of the members of the band the video recording and I was very surprised (and happy!) to hear that they wanted to use the footage for their next promotional clip of the new single STAY.
And this is the final result:

 Stay-Two Skies

I have some live video I recorded from TWO SKIES on their last tour in England in 2014 so I am hoping to edit it with original audio and upload it on youtube pretty soon.

Stay tuned!
